Selected by CushCush, the wood used for the furniture are reclaimed Teak wood, originating from traditional wooden houses from Java island known as “Joglo”. The selected wood comes from the wall planks and the horizontal beam of the Joglo houses.
As times and cultures change, many people in Indonesia now prefer to live in modern brick houses. To finance these new homes, they often sell their old wooden houses, which have become valuable due to the market for reclaimed wood. This allows them to earn a significant amount by selling their traditional wooden homes.

The shared commitment to community-focused work led to the collaboration between Ishinomaki Laboratory and CushCush, bringing a new take on the furniture using locally-sourced reclaimed wood.
