Announcement of Management Changes

Thank you for your continued support of Ishinomaki Laboratory.

Founded in the aftermath of the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011, Ishinomaki Laboratory began as a local reconstruction initiative and has since grown into an internationally recognized design brand, shaped by the craftsmanship, people, and community of Ishinomaki, Miyagi.

None of this would have been possible without the support and collaboration of our partners in Japan and around the world. We are deeply grateful to everyone who has been part of our journey.

Today, we are pleased to announce a new leadership and organizational structure that will allow us to build on this foundation and take the next step in our development.

Keiji Ashizawa, who has been closely involved with Ishinomaki Laboratory since its founding and has led both its creative direction and management, will become the company’s sole Chief Executive Officer.

As part of this transition, dotcom will become a major shareholder in Ishinomaki Laboratory. A long-standing partner of the company, dotcom has worked closely with us to develop the Made in Local Project in China and has played an important role in bringing our shared vision of locally rooted manufacturing to a wider audience.

This closer partnership will support Ishinomaki Laboratory’s continued growth in Japan and internationally, while helping us share the ideas behind Made in Local with more communities around the world.

Takahiro Chiba, currently Co-CEO and Workshop Director, stepped down as Co-CEO and established a new company, ISHINOMAKI KOSAKUSHO INC., where he serves as President.

ISHINOMAKI KOSAKUSHO INC. will carry forward the manufacturing expertise and craftsmanship that have been at the heart of Ishinomaki Laboratory since its earliest days. It will remain based in Ishinomaki and will continue to work closely with Ishinomaki Laboratory as its principal manufacturing partner.

Under the new structure, Ishinomaki Laboratory will lead brand development, product development, international partnerships, and community initiatives. ISHINOMAKI KOSAKUSHO INC. will focus on furniture production, technical development, and quality control.

While the two organizations will have distinct roles, they will remain closely connected by a shared history, philosophy, and commitment to manufacturing rooted in place. Together, we will continue to nurture the spirit of making that began in Ishinomaki and explore how its values can take on new meaning in communities around the world.

Thank you once again for your continued trust and support. We look forward to beginning this new chapter together.
