Ishinomaki Homebase

Ishinomaki Home Base is a hybrid facility that is at once showroom, hotel, and community space. Renowned designers and long-time collaborators of ISHINOMAKI LABORATORY contributed to the look and feel of the interior, including all the guest rooms.

Travelers and residents alike can enjoy drinks at the cafe, orattend a public program at the gallery/event space. Airy, modern,and comfortable, Ishinomaki Home Base invites visitors from aroundthe world to get to know our hometown.

1st Floor

On the first floor of Ishinomaki Home Base, you’ll find umikaze coffee, the Ishinomaki Laboratory showroom, and spaces dedicated to making and creative activities. Workshops and various events are also held there.

Umikaze Coffee

A café where you can enjoy specialty coffee, including authentic espresso.
Located in the busy Watanoha district of Ishinomaki City, where many people are active from early morning, it serves as a welcoming place for various people to connect while enjoying good coffee and a pleasant time.

Inside, you can relax while using Ishinomaki Laboratory furniture.
It is also suitable for working on your laptop or holding small meetings.

Ishinomaki Laboratory Showroom

We offer a full lineup of Ishinomaki Laboratory products, from standard items to the latest releases. You can also experience their comfort and usability firsthand while using facilities such as umikaze coffee.
If you make a reservation in advance, our staff can guide you through the products and consult with you on custom orders, including customization options.

Creative workspace

“Nonki” which creates small leather goods using deer leather hunted by the maker himself; “9W (Nine Double)” a brand that sells bicycles and works with iron welding; and “cog” which supports people who want to experiment with design and making.
In addition to selling their respective products, they also offer workspace rentals and organize workshop programs.

In addition, the gallery space features exhibitions primarily by emerging artists and can also be used as a theater room equipped with a high-resolution screen and high-quality sound system for events and screenings.
You can also rent 20–40 square meter spaces on the first floor. These spaces are suitable for classes, seminars, events, and various other programs. Please feel free to consult with us about using the spacious atrium and refined architectural setting as a rental studio as well.

2nd Floor

Guest rooms have been designed by architects and product designers associated with Ishinomaki Laboratory.
You can enjoy your stay in rooms filled with each designer’s unique personality.
You can cook in the kitchen or work at the counter desk.

Takibi – Torafu Architects

Designer’s Comment

The guest room with a large private terrace features AA STOOL, AA DESK, and ISHINOMAKI BIRD designed by Torafu for Ishinomaki Laboratory, along with TAKIBI LIGHT, a lampshade newly created especially for this room, adding warmth to the space.

We hope you will enjoy your stay in a space that is “not overly defined, not overly designed,” allowing you to experience the accommodation in your own way.

Designer’s Comment

My first impression of Ishinomaki was, of course, the sea—but also the trees that reach right up to the water’s edge. So I wanted to create a room where you can feel the blue of the sea, the green of the forest, and the blue of the sky all together. And in that forest, a dove lives, gently marking the passage of time.

Designer’s Comment

As the room is very compact, we created a tree-like hanger as the symbol of this space, designed to hold many different items. We hope you will enjoy using it by hanging bags, bath towels, hats, coats, lights, and more from its branches.

Noki - Taiji Fujimori Atelier

Designer’s Comment

When I first entered this room, I felt a sense of comfort, as if I were beneath the eaves of a large roof. So I hoped that those who visit this space would relax while looking slightly upward, more than usual. The pendant light, set at the same angle as the roof, quietly stands as a cue for that experience.
