Continuing Ishinomaki Laboratory’s tradition of making animal objects, RA BIRD is a small bird made from just a few parts: a right-angle metal bar, two triangular pieces of wood, and two screws. The metal bar, also used in the leg structure of other Ishinomaki Laboratory furniture, forms the bird’s neck and gives the piece its name. The screws that secure the wooden beak in place suggest the eyes.
The result is simple yet expressive, reflecting Ishinomaki Laboratory’s interest in using familiar elements to create useful or enjoyable things, without adding more than necessary.
